Scholars take an environmental education “placed based” approach to engage people in learning about and connecting to their immediate environments. This includes CESL “Cooperative Environmental Sustainability Learning” which is an ongoing student (or teacher) lead classroom activity that increases students knowledge of environmental sustainability. Using a given format students independently design and conduct a lesson with the class on an assigned environmental sustainability issue

Green Apprentices Course:

Green Apprentices is the alternative course for students with different interests and needs. It is a work study program where students enrolled collaborate with community members, staff, Green Scholars, and each other on researching, identifying, developing and instituting logical, environmentally sustainable and cost effective green initiatives. Green initiatives managed by Green Apprentices help reflect the program’s central mission of increasing individual responsibility and passion for sustainable living practices, all while assisting Scholars on their community initiatives.
