GLOUCESTER

SINGLE-USE PLASTIC AND

POLYSTYRENE ORDINANCE

With strong pushes from Seaside Sustainability and Gloucester’s Clean City Commission, as well as leadership of City Councilors Melissa Cox and Sean Nolan, Gloucester recently passed a ban on all single-use plastic bags and polystyrene (Styrofoam) containers, which will go into effect as of January 2019. This initiative, developed and managed by intern John Dello Russo, is imperative in maintaining the beauty and health of our city’s land and seascapes.

We know such transition posts its own challenges, and will work our hardest to introduce biodegradable and reusable alternatives, as well as the potential benefits of the proposed ordinance, through our partnership as we accomplish this goal collaboratively as Gloucester citizens. We even made a facebook page just for this purpose -- click the bottom below to learn more!
