Marketing & Public Relations


The marketing team aims to present Seaside Sustainability in a positive and captivating manner through clear, strategic messaging. The team's primary goal is to expand our reach and engagement, while maintaining our current following. Our interns help with managing our social media pages, website, newsletter, blog, public relations, and marketing campaigns. The marketing team consists of two branches, Content Generation & Community Management and Operations, Analytics & Platform Management, with numerous sub-teams housed under each branch. *Marketing interns are on the marketing team only*.

General skills and experiences needed for Marketing Team:

  • Writing and editing skills

  • Wix, Wordpress, Web design

  • Social media management - Hootsuite

  • Videography, photography, Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, etc.

  • Knowledge/experience in developing podcast content, production and/or editing

  • Google Analytics, Search Engine Optimization

  • MailerLite or other email marketing tools

  • Journalism background, newsletter experience, any public relations experience

  • Driven, self-starter, independent, strong work ethic

  • Time management, multitasking, ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Teamwork and the ability to work and collaborate with others on a team


Content Generation & Community Management

This branch writes and edits content for our blog, social media posts, newsletter, and public relations materials. They manage an ongoing flow of content that is distributed to external audiences on a weekly basis. This branch is divided into four sub-teams: blog, social media, public relations, and newsletter. A team lead oversees each sub-team.

Skills needed:

  • Writing and editing

  • Public relations

  • Social media management and social media strategy

  • Experience with Canva, Trello, Hootsuite, and/or Mailerlite

Skills needed for team leads:

  • Social media Lead - Familiarity with Hootsuite and social media strategy.

  • Newsletter Lead - MailerLite or email marketing experience, high writing and editing skills, journalism background a plus

  • Public Relations Lead - Experience with representing an organization and communicating an organization’s mission, values, and announcements to internal and external publics

  • Blog Lead - experience writing, editing, and reviewing others' writing

Desired Experience:

  • Writing newsletters

  • Writing and/or managing blogs

  • Running social media platforms

  • Writing and distributing public relations materials

Operations, Analytics & Platform Management

This branch manages internal and external websites, monitors social media and web analytics, oversees website and social media accounts, and works on video editing & graphic design to be used on our website and social media accounts. This branch is divided into four sub-teams: visuals, website, webstore, and video. A team lead oversees each sub-team.

Skills needed:

  • Wix management and google sites

  • Graphic design - Illustrator, Canva, etc.

  • Videography & video editing - premiere rush/pro, imovie, etc.

  • Trello

  • Google Suite and Google Analytics

Skills Needed for team leads:

  • Visuals Lead - graphic design experience and familiarity with Canva

  • Wix Lead - website design and familiarity with web-development services like Wix or WordPress

  • Webstore Lead - familiarity with web-development services like Wix or WordPress

  • Video Lead - filming/editing experience and familiarity with imovie or premiere rush/pro

  • Wix management and Google sites

Desired Experience:

  • Experience with editing videos or pictures

  • Graphic design - experience with creating graphics and infographics; familiarity with Canva is a plus

  • Website design - experience with building and managing websites; familiarity with Wix is a plus

  • Google Suite and Google Analytics to help monitor and evaluate progress on meeting our goals
