The National STEM Honor Society (NSTEM) inspires and recognizes the efforts and achievements of students to become academic, community, and business leaders in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
Purposes & Benefits
NSTEM inspires future leaders of our increasingly technology-driven world by nurturing STEM education and innovation through project-based learning, leadership development, and mutually beneficial collaboration among students, schools, communities, and businesses:
Foster individuals’ passion for discovery, learning, and the development of skill sets in critical analysis, and creative thinking in relation to real-world challenges;
Provide students with the tools and knowledge to become leaders in creating sustainable communities across the nation;
Supply school chapters with information about and resources for STEM workforce needs, training opportunities, career development;
Encourage high school graduates to pursue STEM concentrations and STEM-related degrees in technical school and college;
Increase the numbers of skilled educators who teach in K-12, college, and university STEM disciplines;
Identify financial aid opportunities through scholarships, awards, and recognition for projects and leaders in the NSTEM community;
Provide a periodic newsletter packed with regional and national information on program and leadership opportunities relevant to NSTEM chapters and students;
Provide opportunities and strategies to engage underrepresented and disadvantaged youth, especially girls/women, to engage in diverse STEM disciplines.
Our chapters have exclusive and secure access to an easy-to-use, web-based collection of tools that includes information about scholarships, grants, learning project ideas, fundraising ideas, calendars, a periodic newsletter and more. We provide specific opportunities and strategies for underrepresented youth to engage in STEM disciplines.
