Our Local Projects
At the junction between art and sustainability are three local projects Seaside is spearheading, Inspiration Gloucester, Goby, and Drain smART. Combined, they provide the city of Gloucester a wonderful interplay with the importance of art in public perception of sustainability.
Inspiration Gloucester has identified 70+ public and private large scale walls around downtown Gloucester in which will be used to display large format art, murals, or light installations. Through this project, Gloucester will embrace its long history of local and refined artists from the generations to provide full scale works of art bringing art and “inspiration” to the city.
Goby is a large metal fish structure constructed of metal and filled with consumer marine debris and will be housed at our beaches. As a National STEM Honor Society and Seaside Sustainability program, local schools will be charged with developing their own Goby’s bringing more attention to the consumer marine debris issue
Drain smART is a city schools project where classes paint storm drains using eco-friendly outdoor paints on campus linking the urgency of what is in the street finds its way to the ocean.
